With a proven track record in the global pharmaceutical and medical device industries, I specialize in driving product success, revenue growth, and organizational transformation.
Throughout my career, I’ve built high-performing teams, revitalized brands, and implemented innovative strategies that deliver measurable results across diverse therapeutic areas. I have held significant leadership positions at industry giants such as Amgen, Astellas, Pharmacia, TAP Pharmaceuticals, Pharmacia, and Knoll Pharmaceutical Company.
My consulting projects span commercial startups—where I was involved in everything from assisting in startup funding activities to providing commercial expertise in shaping clinical development programs—and transforming and scaling existing organizations to maximize their revenue potential.
In my career, I’ve realized that common sense isn’t always so common, and open-mindedness—a trait many claim to possess—is often absent when it’s needed most. Success, as I’ve learned, comes not only from expertise and hard work but also from having the courage to embrace diverse perspectives and the humility to adjust course when new insights emerge.
I’ve faced challenges that demanded more than conventional solutions throughout my journey. Whether repositioning a struggling product in a crowded market, leading a team in a resource-constrained startup, or launching a new therapy ahead of a competitor's generic intrusion, the key to overcoming these hurdles often lies in viewing problems from multiple angles. It wasn’t just about asking the right questions but also about listening—truly listening—to all voices at the table, from the most seasoned executives to frontline employees and even the most skeptical critics.
However, I found that this approach isn’t always embraced. Many people default to their preconceived notions, favoring comfort over challenge. In contrast, I’ve practiced inviting dissenting opinions, knowing they sharpen strategies and reveal blind spots. For example, when launching a product in a generic-heavy market, advisory boards and ride-alongs with physicians didn’t just validate ideas—they reshaped them. Listening to the frustrations of healthcare staff revealed critical access barriers, which led to innovative solutions like partnering with specialty pharmacies to simplify prior authorizations.
Adopting an open-minded and commonsensical approach has led to better results, fostered stronger teams, and deepened trust. People are more willing to collaborate when they see their perspectives valued, even if their suggestions don’t always make it to the final plan. This openness doesn’t mean abandoning conviction or bending to every whim but balancing confidence with adaptability.
What strikes me most is how often common sense and open-mindedness are dismissed as unnecessary in fast-moving industries. Yet, my most impactful decisions were rooted in those very principles. It’s not always easy to challenge entrenched thinking or to rethink a "sure thing," but the rewards are worth it. I’ve found that success isn’t just about being right; it’s about being willing to think differently, listen thoughtfully, and act decisively when the right path emerges.
At its core, common sense isn’t about simplicity—it’s about clarity. Open-mindedness isn’t about agreeing with everyone but respecting every perspective. Together, these qualities have guided me through the complexities of leadership, strategy, and growth, proving time and again that the uncommon can be the most potent force of all.
